The Opel Mokka-e “Shut Up and Dance” commercial — an energetic film about freedom, individuality, and sustainable style. The story follows a dynamic young woman who yanks off her headphones, flooding her world with sound and motion. The Mokka-e becomes the pulse of the city — iridescent green, urban chic, and clean energy — as she drives to a concert at the Brandenburg Gate, where the car gets plugged in and powers the scene as she takes the stage and spins the decks to bring the concert to life.

CASTLE MILK STOUT “HERITAGE STORYBOARD. JOE PUBLIC ADVERTISING
This storyboard illustrates a Castle Milk Stout TVC celebrating heritage and identity. The story follows a 35-year-old man drawing inspiration from his African roots to shape his future. Set in a dark Karoo-like environment at night, each scene is individually lit and connected by seamless camera movement. The film features African iconography, Nguni cattle, mirrors, mannequins, and a final tavern scene — all rendered in a stylised, Afrocentric visual language that reflects the brand’s depth and authenticity.

Directed by Amy Allais, this storyboard illustrates Capfin’s “Click Click” 30-second TV commercial. The spot opens with the question, “What can Capfin do?” and answers by demonstrating how simple it is to access banking services online. The art direction reflects clarity and ease of use, with a clean look featuring Capfin’s signature orange and blue colour scheme. Visual elements include a keyboard, mouse, phone, and laptop — reinforcing the theme of convenience through technology.

Commissioned for Orijin Alcoholic Beverage, this storyboard visualizses a high-energy Nigerian music video-style TV commercial starring Reminisce, one of Nigeria’s most progressive musical artists. The commercial showcases vibrant cultural scenes — including a triumphant wrestler, drumming circles, dancers, and the Argungu Fishing Festival — all wrapped in Orijin’s distinctive leaf-inspired branding. The piece celebrates the brand’s message: “Live Orijinal. Always.”

This storyboard visualises the Cadbury Lunch Bar “Skhaftin” commercial. The narrative follows astronaut Nkululeko on launch day, whose mother realises he has forgotten his skhaftin of Lunch Bars. She hurries to the Aerospace facility, delaying the countdown long enough to hand it over. The astronaut bites into a Lunch Bar as the launch begins. The storyboard was digitally illustrated for use in pre-visualisation and concept development.

Produced as part of concept research for Ogilvy South Africa, this storyboard depicts a humorous bus scenario with Simba Chips. The young woman initially misunderstands the older man’s identical packet of chips, later sharing with a trendy young man. The frames were crafted in layers and were used to create an animatic for research purposes, illustrating the campaign message: “Some things are better when you share.”

The storyboard was briefed online and executed in Peter Samuelsson’s Cape Town studio. The storyboard was delivered in layers and edited into an animatic for research purposes.
